PERSONALITY
As with all of his House, Horran is loyal to the Tully's, however that being said he has become embittered by what has come to pass. House Mallister through all it's loyalty has never surmounted to anything more than a vassal house, the House through its fealty to House Tully fully supported the North, Robb's claim as King in the North and Horran only sees House Mallister as having suffered. He has seen his Father killed because of the Robb Stark's war, further to this Lord Jason Mallister and his son were taken and held at Seagard by the Frey's. Horran has grown tired of seeing his house abused, he is proud of Mallister's tradition as defender's against the Ironborn, yet all the House has as its claim is this one defining trait. The Ironborn have not threatened Seagard of the Riverlands for some time now and slowly Horran has seen House Mallister begin to crumble.
Young and headstrong he sees it as his duty to not just restore the House but raise it's status, yet with little experience of leading he knows not how to bring this about, and is both inexperienced in war and politics, the few battles he has partaken in being minor skirmishes and his involvement in political matters has been little more than seeing to squabbles over land and the upkeep of his holdfast that had once been his Father's.
Horran however has quite a sharp mind and is determined to realise his goal even if the way he sees things is somewhat naïve, for to bring about his vision it is unlikely to happen in his lifetime, being a minor family with no real political ties he will find it hard to bring about what he desires. This does not sway Horran from his single vision and whilst fair he is stalwart in this one tracked focus and it is hard to shift him from attempting to bring about what he desires. His position and view marks him out as a black sheep from the dutiful House who have never questioned their place.
Horran however has other ideas and is moving to become Lord of Seagard.
HISTORY
Born to Jaremy Mallister and his wife, Horran is the only surviving son of Jaremy and as normal for a minor Lord's son he was taught to ride and fight with a sword and a bow and sail so as to defend Seagard. Horran himself favoured sword play and riding, he disliked archery and never practised nearly enough to become much more than an adequate bowman, his sailing skills were rarely needed but he has common enough skill to man and sail a small boat. It is within the art of swordplay and history he found a love, like most adolescent boys he dreamed the dreams of being a Knight and so practised with a sword and upon horseback and filled his minds with the chivalrous tales from history. What he enjoyed as a boy became him as a man, in his youth he rarely stood still, Horran "Movement" Mallister they named him, for he was always on the go, fond of riding and climbing trees, running and climbing through the area surrounding Seagard. When he became old enough this trait passed on, gone was the playful abandonment of youth, yet still Horran is rarely still in one place, he is not one for discussion much and over the course of years this caused friction in his House. The Mallister's new and held their place, Horran did not, neither would he stay and talk reason with them when they tried. When his Father died Horran became more recluse, only twenty four at the time, barely a man and his time spent with his head in a history book meant that he was ill learned when it came to dealing with the real and present problems of what now were his people.
The years that passed further affected Horran, the events that transpired turned him bitter toward how House Mallister had come out of the wars they had been dragged through. He resented to some degree that he now had to managed a holdfast and this grew as he began to desire to make something more of his House, he scorned Jason Mallister for not living up to the words of the House; "Above the rest." and contested that since Jason had killed Rodrik Greyjoy the House had surmounted to nothing, Horran seeks to elevate House Mallister and become Lord Paramount of the Trident.
Horran now resides in a small keep located on the Bay of Eagles.
