Life as a third born son would always be a hard task for anyone in life but for one such as Joseph, he was met with a task that many would indeed not attempt to climb themselves and simply cave and give up. His father Lord Dunstan always gave praise to his first born and second son for they had shown great promise with axe, sword and shield and could grapple over walls with the speed of a demon which impressed many and showed the seed from his loins was something of great promise. Many sought after Lord Dunstan wishing to give marriage packs in hopes of tying themselves to the house and while many sent offerings they quickly turned away when offered the third born son, Joseph Drumm instead. He was not given the same gifts as his two older brothers and through the years as a child was plagued with sickness but that was not the only thing, his lack of being able to fight properly which he struggled with through his upbringing to master all three forms of the Ironborn's staple offense against mainlanders. It wasn't until he had finished his training was the complete the boy began to relive the horrors of his youth at hearing the tales of what happened at Old Wyk before he was born being laid siege to by none other than Ser Barristan Selmy after what they had done at Fair Island and Lannisport in an attempt to take back the riches that were so long denied from them the king's forces put his father Lord Dunstan and the houses of Stonehouse and Goodbrother to siege in which the Ironborn not knowing the words kneel fought back until finally their King bent the knee and many lost respect for House Greyjoy on that fateful day but most only whisper such things now due to the King who had knelt still holding power over his vassal lords by getting King Robert Baratheon's pardon when his son Theon was taken as a Ward by Lord Eddard Stark so many years ago. Now at the age of four and ten he has been given the privilege of joining his father on the Thunderer to seek glory for the new King of the Iron Islands, Euron Greyjoy in the battle of the Shield Islands to try and mend the ties that were broken when Lord Dunstan proclaimed for himself at the Kingsmoot but was swiftly looked over after the sounded of the large horn in the distance to which all declared their love for Euron, even his brothers and himself oddly enough to which in overwhelming numbers he had won.

Sheepish and timid would be the best ways to describe the way Joseph usually interacted with those around him as he was not someone that took charge nor was he brave but instead was very observant of his surrounding and tried to play to the mood as to not upset others and cause any sort of negative reflection onto himself to avoid confrontation. Sadness and Self doubt are two things that Joseph struggles with throughout his days of life as many have always put him down and belittled him which caused this sort of behavior within him always questioning himself before making a decision which could affect him negatively and could likely be heard second guessing himself in mutters and sometimes loud verbal arguments while he fought with the voices within his mind that constantly told him of his eventual failures. Multi personality disorder is most visibly seen through the stress that was put on him by his older siblings and his father causing traumatic stress on his young fragile mind until it shattered showing a side of caution and constant worrying and then one of emotionless and absolute control in which he was calm, collected though void of joy, sorrow, pity or anger and instead completed the task before him risking his body without care. This side has only been seen in scuffles with his brothers that led to breaking his hand and his brother Donnel's ribs at one point from the blows that aimed down one after another on the males body. For now, he likely would remain that scared self doubting boy but...for how long?

It was warm out today, the kind of heat that you could feel on your cheeks and neck that told you before even stepping outside onto the deck that you would be sweating at the faintest task ahead of you but this was the life of a third son, a deck hand that been placed on the Thunderer to spend his youth learning how to work a longship which was the majority of the ironborn fleet since war galleys were far too slow and they had always made quick strikes and raids on the coasts and needed ships that were built for that. Joseph squinted as he heard the first mate screaming for all hands on deck with them arriving at the Shield Islands with King Euron and the rest of the Ironborn fleet to begin the invasion of each to secure the Reach for their King. Nervousness had set in as visions of his training on how to grapple up stone walls, how to use an axe and shield, hell how to even breath was leaving him right now making the brown haired lad pale as a ghost to anyone that was looking if everyone wasn't getting themselves ready to breach. A sour ball rose in his throat that he swallowed down and everything came back to him, this was why he was a coward. Lord Dunstan and his brothers often teased him, especially Donnel who enjoyed mocking him calling Joseph the girl that father had never wanted as he had the body of a fighter that much was true but at the age of fourteen he hadn't killed anyone or even committed a violent act which shamed him so much so his father didn't even send out ravens on his nameday to let the other Lords of the Islands and realm know he existed. His eyes stared towards the axe and shield by his bedside, a beaten up hand me down shield that his oldest brother gave him with the bone hand of their house on the front, the paint having chipped and faded as the years had gone by had him near tears with that wetness swelling in the brims of his eyes at the very sight of his failure and likely death. Maybe he could stay on the ship? Avoid the fighting by hiding and simply claim he got injured or wasn't feeling well? No one would buy it likely and as he felt the ship hit the sands on the shore he knew it was time to decide. The roar of his ironborn brothers and bannermen could be heard making him a bit nervous as their footsteps could be heard racing over the deck along with the splashing of the many bodies falling into it to be the first into battle but would he dare join them? That remained to be see

The Drumms own a Valyrian steel sword, Red Rain, which was taken from a knight years ago by Hilmar the Cunning with wits and a wooden cudgel. Due to the name and the color of the sword, it is possible the sword belonged to House Reyne.
The Drumms hold the title "Lord of Old Wyk", suggesting they have some type of sovereignty over the whole island and its other houses, such as the Stonehouses. During the Greyjoy Rebellion, the Drumms would have commanded the defense of their island against the host led by Ser Barristan Selmy.
